Terms of Use

The following Terms of Use outline your obligations when using the SciBlogs website

A. Blog Content & Updates

  1. The user who creates a blog is automatically the administrator of this blog, who is fully responsible for any type of, and for any harmed resulting from, the material (the Content) that is uploaded to this blog, such as text, videos and images. By making Content available, you represent and warrant that: the downloading, copying and use of the content will not infringe the proprietary rights, including but not limited to the copyright, patent, trademark or trade secret rights, of any third party.
  2. It is forbidden to upload Content that contains viruses, worms, malware, Trojan horses or other harmful content.
  3. You must not describe or assign keywords to your blog in a misleading or unlawful manner, including in a manner intended to trade on the name or reputation of others. In particular your blog must not named in a manner that misleads your readers into thinking that you are another person or company. In this case, SciBlogs may change or remove any description or keyword that it considers inappropriate or unlawful, or otherwise likely to cause SciBlogs liability.
  4. SciBlogs is a blog community for science blogs. It is strictly forbidden to operate a blog which is irrelevant to any scientific field (e.g. personal blogs, art blogs, pornography).
  5. Spam, phising and spoofing blogs and updates are forbidden and will be deleted immediately. A blog/update is considered as spam when it is designed to drive traffic to third parties or boost search engine rankings of third party sites.
  6. Your blog and your updates must not contain libelous Content, threats or provoke violence towards individuals and entities.

B. Security and Privacy

  1. If you create an account or a blog on SciBlogs, you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under the account and any other actions taken in connection with your blog.
  2. For security reasons you must keep your password secret. You must immediately notify ScibBlogs of any unauthorized uses of your blog, your account or any other breaches of security. SciBlogs will not be liable for any acts or omissions by you, including any damages of any kind incurred as a result of such acts or omissions. SciBlogs reserves the right to suspend your account and/or your blog in case actions held under your account cause a security threat to SciBlogs.
  3. By submitting Content to SciBlogs, you grant SciBlogs a license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish the Content solely for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting your blog. This rule does not apply if you choose to make your blog private via the available settings.
  4. If you delete Content, SciBlogs will use reasonable efforts to remove it from SciBlogs website, but you acknowledge that caching or references to the Content may not be made immediately unavailable. In any case SciBlogs does guarantee that your blog content is not cached by any third party service (e.g. Google cache, Archive cache etc). You are solely responsible to prevent such activities by modifying your privacy settings.

C. Visitors

  1. SciBlogs cannot review all of the material posted to the SciBlogs blogs, and cannot therefore be responsible for that material’s content, use or effects. Solely responsible is/are the adminstrator(s) of each blog.
  2. By operating this website, SciBlog does not represent or imply that it endorses the material there posted, or that it believes such material to be accurate, useful or non-harmful.
  3. You are responsible for taking precautions as necessary to protect yourself and your computer systems from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other harmful or destructive content.
  4. We have not reviewed, and cannot review, all of the material, including computer software, made available through the websites and webpages to which SciBlogs links, and that link to SciBlogs. SciBlogs does not have any control over those non-SciBlogs websites and webpages, and is not responsible for their contents or their use. By linking to a non-SciBlogs website, SciBlogs does not represent or imply that it endorses such website or webpage.
  5. You are responsible for taking precautions as necessary to protect yourself and your computer systems from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other harmful or destructive content.

D. Suspension of Account  or Blog

  1. SciBlogs reserves the right to suspend or delete any account or blog (i) that violates the terms of use, or (ii) causes a threat to SciBlogs security, or (iii) causes any kind of problem to SciBlog community. In any case, SciBlogs will warn the administrator(s) of the blog and/or the user(s) at least 3 days before suspending and at least 7 days before deleting any blog or account. This is not the case when immediate and direct action is required.
  2. In case the user(s) whose blog or account is about to be deleted have paid for a Pro Pack, SciBlogs has the obligation to refund that amount, but only if the purchase was made not longer than 180 days before the date of suspension/deletion of blog/account.

E. Changes in Terms of Use

  1. SciBlogs reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace any part of Terms of Use. It is your responsibility to check the Terms of Use periodically for changes. Any change will be listed at the end of this page.
  2. Your continued use of or access to SciBlogs following the posting of any changes to Terms of Use  constitutes acceptance of those changes.
